Default wrong coolant?

so i went to the dealer today and they asked me if i been on an accident i said that yea 6 months ago..they told me that some one had put the wrong coolant(g12) on my car.they said that i i need to flush the whole thing and put new coolant.they charging me $400 for that..so my question is that is it really necessary to flush the coolant, can it cause some real damage to the car. does the car warranty cover it? if is not cover is it something i can do on my own?any DIY? thanks

Mixing different engine coolants or using the wrong coolant can impair the performance of the special additive packages, and this can result in increased corrosion to the radiator. The passive layer in the cooling system gradually becomes thinner and more porous and the engine coolant needs to be changed at more frequent intervals. Using the wrong engine coolants can gradually lead to corrosion and damage to the water pump, radiator, radiator hoses and cylinder gasket. This can lead to engine failure in the worst case.

So yes it's necessary if it was the wrong coolant.

If someone put the wrong coolant in then Audi is not responsible for the damages and it's not covered under warranty.

Yes you can do it yourself and DIY's can be found if you search google.
Chances are you'll never need to do it again on this car if they just changed it.

Also it will clog your heater core and that's not fun or cheap to replace.

Guys, c'mon. G12+ and G12++ can certainly be mixed with G12. No issues at all. The dealer did rip off OP.

(A 2010 Audi sent to the USA would have had G12++ from the factory.)

You can always use an indy for much less.

Also, how about going back to the original place that did the repairs after your accident?
