Default Electronics issues compilation.

The title is a bit dramatic, but I wanted to capture some minor gripes I have about the B9 electronics (to include the Tech package) and give folks a place to sound off theirs as well, or post solutions/workarounds. If there's a bunch of feedback on this I'll update my opening post to capture them so folks can have a one-stop list of annoyances or configuration concerns and perhaps ultimately submit it to Audi for change-control consideration.

I know some of these can be addressed utilizing a program that accesses the system but it doesn't seem like a lot of these should be that invasive.

1) When viewing a map in the Virtual Cockpit the mousewheel on the steering wheel spins in the opposite direction than I would expect for zooming in/out. I get this might be preference, but it feels so completely foreign in its current config that I can't be in the minority on this.

2) Engine Autostop feature cannot be disabled by default (correctable via a program but not using the native interface).

3) Bluetooth audio for a phone will be disconnected when a cabled connection is made (understandable), but upon exiting and reentering the vehicle Bluetooth audio is left disconnected until manually connected again. Once established it should auto-connect to Bluetooth audio and only disconnect when a phone is cabled.

4) The amount of equalization in the audio is abysmal, especially with the upgraded B&O sound system. Single band equalizers for bass and treble is just really weak, and the removal of the subwoofer equalizer (which I saw on earlier models) is puzzling.

For the start/stop feature, I don't think you will see this being able to be disabled by default. There have been a number of posts on this and if you search you'll see some other discussions on it and I posted a link to an environmental paper published discussing Mercedes and the credits they get for installing systems like start/stop. If the car company allows users to disable this feature, they will lose those credits. I think there will be hacks for it, but I can see the car companies argue that they can't prevent that, but I think it means you'll never see that option in the native interface.

I would agree with point 1. Up should be zoom in, down should be zoom out.

Start/stop doesn't bother me but an option would be nice for those who don't want it on.

I can't confirm 3 but I'm pretty certain that it does reconnect. It could be phone or app dependent. I've sure that this is what happens on start.

I'm not sure if I've even seen a subwoofer equalizer or cross over function in any vehicle I've seen (within reason). Individual EQ would be great but I appreciate the simplicity.

If you put maps in the infotainment mode you can see the magnifying glass with the scale of the zoom value, say you're at 800ft if you scroll down to 600ft it zooms down, that's why it's that way. It was annoying to me in the beginning but when I think of it this way it's not as bad.

#3 doesn't seem to be the case for me using iOS. As soon as I unplug my phone from the center console the bluetooth audio (same song/same position) begins to play.

It does for me also, but try turning the vehicle off with the cable connected. Then open the door to fully shut off the infotainment and disconnect your phone. Then lock/unlock it (if you want to be thorough), get in and fire it up. For me the BT audio (not sure about phone calls) is disconnected until I navigate to the BT input via "Media" and connect.

Are you sure you don't have to climb out of the sunroof also during that routine of events to make it not work properly? LOL

Why would you open the door first before unplugging your phone?

I would think the easy solution is that if you turn off the car (and open the door) before unplugging your phone, then upon returning to your car the next time, you should plug in your phone before starting the car.

Yea, I understand the rationale on the choice, it just feels very awkward.

When I was getting out my car this evening it didn't flash over to Bluetooth unless the car is still running. I agree this is a petty complaint, but it still seems logical to me that it would automatically connect to your BT audio if it was connected in a previous driving session.

Okay, I tried it out for you. I left my iPhone plugged in, turned off the car, opened my door and then unplugged my iPhone. When I got out of the car I locked it. Later, I got back in the car, did not plug my phone in and got a message on the screen, but my audio picked up where I left off over Bluetooth.

During playback:

After getting back in car (you can see it picked up the same song at the bottom of the image, I selected cancel to get rid of the message):
