If you are in the 'looking for stuff to clean out' mode, flip up the cover on the front cowl (access to the brake MC) on the driver's side and have a look down there. Debris seems to accumulate in there pretty quickly which then blocks the drain holes so that when water drains down in there it turns into a soggy mess which stays wet which is bad for potential body corrosion and the electrical connectors that live down there. I didn't want to go crazy with the hose so I put on a disposable glove to extract as much stuff by hand as possible and then rinsed the area clean by pouring water from a bucket rather than blasting with a hose. Cleaning the engine air filter box was a bit of a cake walk by comparison. Right side of the cowl appears to be less of an issue.
I am wondering whether I should do a pre-emptive flush on the sun roof drains. Blocked sun roof drains leading to water inside the cabin has been a problem on some A4s.
