Default Odd shutdown behavior

Several times in the last few months, when I park and shut down my car, it doesn’t seem to go all the way off.
The VC shows off, not ready, but the radio does not go off when I open the door. The last time this happened, the car restarted without pushing the button again, probably after releasing and reapplying the brake.
Pressing the start-stop button again shuts it off, but it’s strange and I haven’t seen anyone else mention it.
I don’t think I’m nuts, but perhaps I’d be the last to know.
I’m on autopilot when I park, so the car goes into park, ebrake gets flipped, and start-stop pressed quickly, probably less than a second for all 3 combined. Does anyone else do this quickly and have you seen any strange behavior?

Craig

You're pressing the start/stop button after you park? Why is that?

If you've been driving, arrive to your destination (e.g. into your parking spot), and then put the vehicle into Park, the normal operation will be that the engine will turn off because the start/stop is active. You will see that in the Virtual Cockpit as there will be a green circle next to the gear indicator in the RPM gauge. This is normal operation. If you press the engine start button again, it will turn the vehicle electronics off and you will see that the VC will go dark and it will show "Off" under the gear indicator.

If you press the start/stop button as you go into Park, the car engine will either turn back on or the car electronics will fire back up. This is also normal operation, too.

It appears you may be confusing the car when you hit the Start/Stop button immediately after you park. This should either be pressed at the start of your drive or right before you apply the vehicle into park/stopped if you do not want Start/Stop to be active.

Another reason to disable the Start/Stop System.

I assume he means the engine Start/Stop button, not the Start/Stop "feature" button.

Mine does this on occasion, but only when I have a passenger. It's been a minor annoyance, but I've never thought much of it.

I was like "this guy has some serious electrical issues." But then I realized I disable start/stop before I even put my car into drive...

Sorry, I am referring to the engine start/stop button, the thing that takes the place of turning a key.
Sometimes I have the auto start/stop feature disabled with the button, sometimes I disable it with the acc ODB11 hack, but right now it’s on. I can’t honestly say if the strange behavior has happened in each mode, I wasn’t paying that much attention.
It’s just strange that when I think I’ve turned off the car, and the tach needle says off, that it doesn’t seem to be shut down in the normal way.

Autopilot for me is to stop the car where I want to leave it and push the button. The car knows to shut down, select Park, apply the parking brake if inclined, and turn off the radio when I open the door. Works every time.

I have seen this too, most noticeable when it keeps binging on me after opening the door while the VC is still in a semi on state. Usually I turn the car off by pressing the start/stop button, I don't put it in P first, no parking brake, no radio off, that all happens automatically after pressing start/stop and opening the door. Except when it doesn't in which case I have to turn it back on again, wait a second and turn it off.

So there is the ACC mode, like turning the key backwards in the old days, which you normally get into by pushing the button without having your foot on the brake.
This seems to be the mode the car is in, so perhaps some sequence is auto-shutting down the car and by the time I press the button my foot is off the brake and I’m putting it in ACC mode.
I live on a hill and drove manuals for years, so the parking brake is pretty automatic for me now, and so is the do-something with the shifter.
I’m not sure if I get out with it in that mode and shut-lock the door if it auto-shuts down or not. Suppose I’ll play and see, or maybe, gasp, look in the manual.
