Trunk kick release problem

Anybody know what causes the trunk kick not to work? I have a video, but mp4 not supported. But what happens is when I kick to open the trunk, I can see the remote being recognized (red led blinks like its being verified), but trunk doesn't open. MAYBE 4-5 tries it might open. This is in the US A4 2022 model

I have the same problem. (UK 2022 B9.5) Sometimes it works first time and other times it won’t work at all. I think it might be down to the action and speed of your foot movement. Slow and deliberate seems best for me.

Try to lift your foot a bit. I have nearly 100% success.

I find a quick movement, like you are trying to kick a football but pulling your foot back before it hits the bumper, works best.

I've found being further away from the bumper than you initially thought and a slower distinct kick movement works best. Took me a few tries to decide on the best distance to stand away from the rear bumper. YMWV

There's definitely a fairly small range in which it detects. I had to try 5-6 different locations (and sales guy saying the '18 just doesn't have the feature even though my identical '17 does) before finding the right spot. And a few more tries to fine tune it. Now I get it almost every time.

one fluid motion of kick, not a wave, directly under center of the car, and then take a step back. It will work every time (on a car without tow package, for whomever else searches and finds this thread), on a vehicle equipped with it
