Using VCDS

Can the car be running while coding with VCDS? Or does it have to be in ACC mode? It’s freezing out and I’d rather sit in a warm running car

Sure, car running is fine, and it lets you measure real time data.

That question cannot be answered as a general case. Some coding/testing needs the engine off condition. To answer the question you would need to specify the exact condition/design of your car (autoscan) and what change you wish to make. Best source is Ross-Tech but you need a legal VCDS to get their advice.

Understood. I saw some posts about coding with VCDS and I heard somewhere else that some mods need to have the car running, but, the mods on here (and some I see in the other categories) never list whether the car needs to be running or not when performing the change which is why I was wondering if it mattered.
