Default Tuning Question

Does anyone think its safe or a bad idea to do a APR tune after i go over 100 k miles in total on my 2017 Audi A4? Could this make my car more prone to engine problems developing due to my car being used to running for 100 k miles un-tuned even if i keep my car properly maintained?

Ive seen many tuned cars with that many or more miles on it running fine. Ive also seen many tuned cars with that many miles on it fail. I personally would not take the chance at that point. Its like giving an elderly person an oxygen tank(nitrous) and then telling them to get rid of the walker and run a marathon. The parts have already been stressed through normal wear and tear. As much as Im pro-mods, this is one situation I would take a back seat.

Honestly you should be fine, but with any aging motor or turbo, wear and tear inevitably works it way in. With or without a tune, if you push the car hard, everything will wear down faster. All depend on your driving style.. you can get the tune, but if you’re going to drive it even harder often, engine and turbine wear will catch up faster.

I agree. I know people who got tunes on their cars after 150k kms and their cars are still running fine after 300k kms. It all depends on how I drive. They use the tune to aid in driveability. Not to do drag races or WOT runs. Of course there will be more wear and tear on parts at 100k miles and a tune might increase the risk of wear and tear at a slightly faster rate. But, if you drive sensibly, you should be fine. If you don’t, well, that is an impending disaster.
