The latest car reliability survey from the Consumers' Association reveals that Japanese models are the most reliable on the UK's roads. The Toyota Yaris was identified as one of the most reliable in the supermini class, while the medium car sector was headed by the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic and Ford Focus. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the S-Type from Jaguar were the best luxury class performers. Some of the most unreliable vehicles included the BMW 3-series and the Audi A4 and TT.

The S Type is even more (actually, much more) problematic than any Audi, old and new. That is one of the smorgasboard of reasons why Jaguar's resale values are even more sucky than Audi's resale values in North America. In fact, with the exception of the UK, Jaguar's resale values suck worldwide whereas Audi's resale values suck only in North America and are great overseas.

I wouldn't say that the survey was invalid, it just shows how different markets perceive different cars. Apart from Merc/BMW/Audi, European executive cars only generally sell well in their home market,i.e try and find a Renault Vel Satis anywhere but France.
