Default 12v Outlet in Trunk

Has anyone notice that there is a 12v outlet in the A6 2016 trunk on the right side behind the webbing?

Don't all the A6 comes with those?

I know when I lived in Korea, my 2012 A6 had it and they gave me a free cooler that plugs into the 12V outlet. Very useful when you buy frozen things or need to drive far for a camping trip with all the food you need to bring.

I believe so. My 05 does. Handy for air inflation if needed for rear tires

I need it for an Engel cooler. Nice cooler, gets down to -5°F. Good for carrying frozen food. My S5 does not have an outlet so I have to run a cable up to the console. The wife's 535i had one in the trunk. Nice to have it in the A6, and there is more room height wise in the A6 trunk than in the 535i, even with no spare in the BMW. The dealer gave me a 2015 A3 to use while waiting for the A6 to get here from Europe. That had only one 12v outlet and it was in the front under the dash. Had to run a cable on that one.

Neat. Do you have a link for that one? 20 years ago I had a DC cooler that chilled slightly for a 6 pack, but nothing ever as nice as -5° F. Our Odyssey has a "Cool Box", which is an insulated section that gets chilled by the AC and keeps stuff pretty cold even after a while with the car off. It would be awesome to be able to get 33°F for drinks or maybe 0°F for stuff that needs to be frozen

I would have liked to get the one shown in the Owner's Manual in the front of the console, under the flip-open lid! Apparently, if you don't order an ashtray, you don't get a power outlet either. Wish I had known that. Long reach from the windshield to the console storage area under my elbow!

Really? That's interesting. So basically everyone should specify an ash tray to get the power outlet?
