Default 19" Sport Package Worth it?

Hi All,

I am planning to purchase my 2013 A6 Premium Plus 2.0T quattroŽ all-wheel drive with
Cold weather package
BOSE System Package
Audi side assist

I am thinking about adding 19" Sport Package but not 100% sure if I really need it or it makes riding that much fun.

I want your expert input!

I live in NJ so Snow is a problem. I drive 75 miles a day so def want to enjoy my ride. 70 miles will be on highway.

It's $1,500 not a huge difference but is it worth it?

Personally I like the 3-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles that comes with the Sport Package, but that is ultimately up to your own preferences and requirements. I feel the sport suspension handles a little better but is still relatively comfortable.

I am far from an expert, but here’s my 2 cents:
On other Audi models (A4, A5, Q5 I believe) the sport package gives upgraded, better bolstered seats. To me this makes the Sport Package a great value on those models.
On the A6 with the Sport Package you get the same so-so seats with no pull-out thigh support. The thing you do get is lower profile tries that around the NYC where I live are not a good idea. In the last year I know two guys who blew tires and bent rims on BMW’s with very low profile tires (I believe 35’s). The 40’s on the 19” Sport Package won’t be that bad, but you do at times have to be careful: over torn up roads, RR tracks, cobble stones and the like.
You also get the steering wheel paddle shifters (I don’t think you’d use them in the kind of driving you do - and the standard Tiptronic can be shifted with the ocnsole shifter) and a stiffer suspension (again, the way you describe your driving this might not be wise since you’ll be encountering lots of potholes and big tar strips). Higher sidewalls become part of the passive suspension helping to absorb road irregularities.

Just took delivery on my 2013 A6 2.0T with Bose, Cold Weather, Side Assist and the 19" Sport Package. I've only been driving for a few days, but it is everything I expected it to be. Drive is firm but not overly stiff. I feel much more connected to the road and it handles beautifully. IMO the sport package makes the car look 10X better. I am also in the NJ/Philly area so the summer tires are a concern to me, but I'll just be a bit more careful when it snows. I highly recommend the Sport Package, but like many say, I may be biased! Just my 2 cents

Can someone please tell me the advantage of a 3-spoke steering wheel? I just don't get it.

For me it was a sportier look, it seemed to be somewhat smaller, and the center portion was smaller as well. The regular wheel looks like something that belongs in a big luxo barge (or perhaps an old Crown Vic), not something for a sporty sedan, IMO.

Of course, that's all up to taste...

I would spring for the Sport suspension setup. The car has tighter suspension and corners better. The wheels are more distinctive, and it you are looking for value, the wheels alone would cost $2500 to change out, not including the tires.

As far as curbing the wheels, if you are careful, you shouldn't have any issue w/ curbs. I am **** regarding wheels, curbs, potholes, and I always park "safely." Haven't had a door ding in years.. (smile.)

IMHO, you will love the car more.
