2013 A6 - 2.0T vs 3.0T question...

Do keep posting updates. I too hate paying for a lot of crap on a car that I know I will never use, but being less adventurous than you I simply looked at the AoA configurator and figured if something isn't shown as an option - that it is. I am old and I remember the days when you could order just about anything on a new car or delete things as well. I got a 1974 Pontiac without tinted windows (but with AC) since the tinting cuts down on night vision and I was driving a lot at night those days - can't do that these days.
I am still not sure why you would want to get full LED headlights - to me just something else that's costly to replace.
Do you know if brands other than Audi are as customizable as you'd like? It is my sense that they all sell their cars basically in trim levels that don’t allow for much customization unless the buyer is willing to shell out big bucks for a special order type build.
It was the "Well Audi dropped a bomb on my plans" comment (a bit of overreaction from my point of view) that brought out my caustic side.

I will keep updating this.
I want full LED headlights because the light output is amazing and they last with very little issues as opposed to regular HID headlights.
Well other car comp's do allow some customization and with the money you do this to any car. Just seems that Audi only wants to let those buying a top of the line Prestige car that option and I think that is BS. Time will tell.

You are looking at $55-60K cars and you are turned off by the possibility of a few hundred dollar headlight replacement?

I'm resurrecting this thread as I am in the same position as the OP was back in 2012. I am upgrading from an A4 2.0T to an A6 for several reasons one of which is comfort and back seat room. I have driven several cars, both the 2.0 and the 3.0. Clearly the 3.0 is more powerful but around town and even on the highway cruising at 70 the 2.0 seems perfectly adequate. So, my question is not so much the engine but the overall car. What else is different between a Prem+ 2.0 Quattro and a Prem+ 3.0T Quattro other than the engine? Are there any other amenities that are standard on the 3.0 that I would have to pay extra for on the 3.0? What about the transmission, brakes, suspension, etc.? I'm about the pull the trigger and want to go into this fully informed. Thanks and feel free to send me a PM. I appreciate the help.

After much debate and reading, I ended up getting a 2013 A6 Prestige CPO car. It had everything on it except the sunshade and full LED lights which is something that I truly wanted. I settled.
In the future I plan to order a full Prestige A6 diesel and get everything but that will be down the road.
As far as features I would just use the order guide as a reference to find out what is what.
