Default A6-S6 Grill Swap

Diggin' the S6 grill...minus the S6 badge of course. Would think it would be a 1 for 1 swap with the A6 grill, but has anyone done some research regarding fitment? Was planning on a drive-by with Audi parts, but if someone else has already done the leg-work...

It should be. If it weren't then Audi would be building different sheetmetal for the S6, which I don't think they are

I am hoping they will both fit as well. I like the chrome accents on the front end of the S6. I know Audi can do some strange things and the fitment of certain parts will not be just plug and play. I wanted to do RS6 grills in my C5, but from searching this site in that forum, they needed to be manipulated to fit. Fingers crossed they fit as well as the mirrors. I would like both those features on my A6.

There have been some after-market chrome grill accent strips available in the past for the B8 A4. I wonder if anyone is offering them yet for the C7?

The sheetmetal is probably the same but the bumper cover is easily changed. Take a bunch of careful measurements before laying any money down.

Or wait for someone else to do the trial and error for us.

As for the chrome strips, I was not much of a fan of those kits. I saw one first hand, and it reminded me of that cheap spool of stuff you buy and just clip on. I have very limited knowledge of the C7 grill, but for what I have I think those stips might look bad. A replacement will look so good.

I haven't checked my grill in depth yet, but I can't tell how you would remove it without removing the entire bumper. They "appear" to be molded together in some way, but I'm probably wrong. I'd love to get the silver mirror caps for my A6. As for the chrome accents, I like it but since I've blacked out my entire grill (which really means just painting the rings black) and removed the quattro badge, i think the chrome would defeat what I've done. I'd like to add quad tips to the rear, like I did with my 2005 A6, but you'd need a new valance.

How do you remove the quattro badge?

I think I tend to agree with you. The strips could end up looking really tacky.

I know on my C5 there was a clip on the inside of the grill and once you unlocked it the front part would come off. I think the badge is two peices. A flat head screwdriver will help. Not sure how it works on the C7, but I will be finding out shortly after receipt.

These pics do not look too bad actually, however the S6 grill has a smaller double bar system per horizontal run on their grill. Just a bit more tasteful IMO. I would prefer subtle chrome.
