Bluetooth Disconnect - MMI only

Default Bluetooth Disconnect - MMI only

I brought my car in to the dealership for an issue I'm having with my phone and they think the problem is with my phone.

If I'm on a call for 20+ minutes, MMI will suddenly drop connection with my phone. On the MMI screen, it'll say "Searching for phone," and my phone shows connected to my car. The call stays connected and on my phone I have to turn off bluetooth and talk through the handset to continue.

My phone is a Droid RAZR MAXX and it's on Audi's list of supported phones. This is a major deal breaker for me as I often have to take client calls when in my car and I can't drop out like I am now.

Have any of you run into this? I'll go buy a new phone if it's my phone, but I don't want to blow $400 if I don't have to.

Have you tried it with another phone? Have a friend take a ride with you and pair with his phone to see if it replicates the issue. If not, your phone is the problem. If not, back to the dealer.

What version of Android does it have? There were some pretty bad issues with BT in the original Jelly Bean release (4.2) and has supposedly been fixed in 4.2.1 and 4.2.2. I got my phone with 4.2.1 and had it drop twice in 2 weeks. After getting 4.2.2 about a month ago, haven't seen it drop.

I was on 4.0 something, and now I'm on 4.1.2. Had the same problem with both though...

Audi reset my phone pairing, so I'm going to give it a go again - maybe that did it (though I doubt it). If it continues to be a problem, I have an old Droid X laying around that I can activate on Verizon to test that - it's still on Gingerbread.

I recently switched from a Blackberry Bold (no comments about the Blackberry please) to a lightly used RAZR MAXX and have had the exact same issue. It seems to drop the Bluetooth connection for no reason. I find that by shutting Bluetooth off on both the phone and the MMI and then restarting Bluetooth usually fixes it, but this is a very annoying problem. By the way, upgarding my phone from Ice Cream Sandwhich to Jelly Bean did not correct the problem.

Well, this is "good" news. What's interesting is the phone is on Audi's list... maybe they don't really test it as much as they could.

For me it's easier to just reboot the phone, though I'd imagine doing the bluetooth shuffle on both may work. I have noticed that doing just one or the other doesn't.

I guess when $version_next iPhone comes out I'll just jump on the bandwagon.

Hate to admit it, but I've had a nearly 4 hour continuous Bluetooth conversation, with an iPhone. Having it disconnect after a few hours would be a feature...

I actually had a 40 minute call earlier with no drop - may be some kind of record.
