Default Brake Sensor

How many brake sensor does the car have. Is it one sensor per side, for instance one for the right and one for the left side for both front and back or just one for the whole front and one for the whole back.

I am getting conflicting information so just check before disassembling the brakes

I have a 2013 A6 Quattro. Bought "OEM" matched brake pads for front and had a local shop install them. Didn't know about the sensor, until after they told me the brake light won't go off until I install new sensors. Bought two sensors, and found on the driver side where the single sensor plugs in. I installed it, but the brake light is still on!!!

Is there someone else needed? I cannot get the car inspected with the brake light on.

Check the connections - it may need a cleaning or the cable is not properly seated. Otherwise you have a bad sensor cable. If all is good, the light should go out. There is nothing else to do.

There is a sensor for the front and one for the rear. Did you install both?

The "sensor" is a simple loop of wire in plastic. When the pad wears, the wire is exposed and eventually breaks. You can plug your sensors in, leave them dangling, get your inspection and figure it out later.

Here's a shot of my rear sensor. The pad had about 3mm remaining.

The poster said he only changed the front brakes.

Thanks, I didn't notice that BonanzaA36 wasn't the original poster.

It could be that the rear sensor on BonanzaA36's car is causing the problem. When I changed pads and rotors, it was the rear pads that had more wear.
