First, MP3 files are but one of several audio formats that are supported:
mp3 - MPEG 1/2 Layer 3
wma - asf - Windows Media Audio 8 and 9
m4a, m4b, AAC - MPEG 2-4

Second, although the manual states up to 32GB cards are supported, there have been many reports of 64GB SDHC cards being used successfully.

Third, the bit rate supported is up to max 320 kbit/s and 48khz sampling. Suggesting reducing the bit rate makes no sense.

Fourth, good luck with help from your dealer on this issue as suggested. They generally don't have a clue when it comes to these types of problems.
Yes, my specific problem was copying MP3s. Other formats are supported as you mention.

I have not reset my MMI. My problem was not pervasive enough for me to travel down that path. I agree that reducing the bit rate makes no sense as well.

I also agree, that asking the dealer to solve the problem is pointless.

I suppose there might be something in Audi's response that may help someone, but I sort of gave up - as I mentioned, my particular problems wasn't significant enough to warrant doing anything else other than deleting the song I was having problems with.

While I wouldn't place a lot of stock that rebooting the MMI will solve your issue, it's pretty simple and won't affect any of your settings. Might as well try it - only takes a minute or two.

Did a little more checking. The music file itself is fine when I navigate to it directly via the folder structure. The problem only occurs when accessing from a playlist: looks like there may be a bug in the program I am using to generate those. I'll have to dig into it further.

Did some more debugging. Problem was indeed with the "Playlist Export" app I was using from the Mac App Store, which wasn't handling Album names with a ":" correctly. I sent a detailed bug report to the author, but for now a workaround is to just not store the music files in an Artist/Album/Track directory format, but a flat directory listing for each playlist instead.

Hey,

to sync your playlists you could use the tool iSyncer, see http://www.isyncer.de/en

Is there a specific brand and or capacity SD Card that might work in my 2009 A4?
I tried a Samsung 32 card and it does not work?

You might want to post this over on the A4 B8 forum. The C7s have different specs for SD cards.

You have to format it using fat32... you will need a special utility to do so.

I think this thread may have the information. I use a 64gb sd card.

As I mentioned in my previous post, he has a 2009 B8 A4 which I believe has a different SD card requirements than a C7.

Thanks for the information. Perhaps I will just use the IPod port, I'm bound to loose the SD card anyway.
