Default Debadge or not debadge......

There is a group of us that like to remove some of badges on our car. I am one of them. As the weather turns I will be heading out to remove the Quattro on the front along with the A6 and 3.0 on the trunk. Here is my question. Anyone remove the Supercharged on the sides? I like clean uninterupted lines so I am thinking about taking them off. Plus it will keep them guessing why I just blew by them. Just a friendly non official poll to see what the debadgers on this site have done with those.

Are you planning to throw the badges away? I actually want to re-badge my S6 with A6 badges. So the car draws less attention on the street and the neighbors/co-workers don't think I'm part of the 1%.

I don't think a car would (or should) state one's financial position in society. I see many who buy expensive cars and still live in affordable homes because that is where they like to spend their money on. Many drive nicer cars ($35-40K) and live in apartments where the lease and rental payments are the same for both. I guess there is nothing wrong with that either.

I debadged the "V8" in my S5 and thinking of doing the same with the "V8T" on the S6 for a cleaner look but will leave the S6 badge in the rear.

I am not going to throw them away, but might stick them on my tool box as a "trophy" display of cars I have owned. What do they call that, flare, at TGI Friday's. I don't have plans to sell or get rid of them. I think I have the badges from all my cars, but I have to find them.

+1. I really don't give a hang on what people think about the cars I drive and/or any other "material" item I may have. It's their issue to deal with and would never subject me changing my lifestyle.

I have used dental floss or fishing line to cut behind the badge and remove it. Then hit it with goo gone. Others will use a heat gun or hair dryer. Various methods but they all work.

Take a look at this thread from 3PedalMINI: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2813752

It is a good thread on detailing your C7 & he also talks about and shows pics of Debadging his C7.

My take on this is 99% of people don't pay any attention to the badges and 99% of those who do, don't know what the badges mean. I don't think the vast majority of motorists care one way or the other whether your engine is a V6, V8, supercharged, turbocharged or powered by chicken fat. Outside of a few Audi enthusiasts, most of which can tell what you own by other exterior cues anyway, no one cares about badges except the car's owner.

IMO, debadging is a purely cosmetic decision if that's your thing. I am reminded of the kids who remove all brand and model references to their small, hot-rodded up, self-painted black matted, Japanese cars with their loud, annoying cherry bomb exhausts and tires poking 2" outside of the fender wells. An extreme case compared to debadging to be sure, but just a thought.

BTW, my sig shows the Supercharger badges missing. I had just had my Xpel installed when I took he photo and they had forgotten to replace them on the fenders. They are now back in place.

This made me laugh. You are right and that is one segment of the debadgers out there. HAHA. Althogh I might get lumped in that set, I still like the clean lines when those are missing. I appreciate when I do that and someone can still tell me what I own. I like talking to those people. Like you said snag, an enthusiast knows the cars by style cues.

Like others said, dental floss or fishing line. I am trying fishing line on mine for the first time. I also bought a cheap heat gun at Harbor Freight. If you use heat, be very careful. Don't concentrate the gun too long on one spot or too close. It will damage the paint. Also be liberal on the goo gone and don't wipe too hard too much before applying more goo gone. I rubbed the paint raw on the last Audi. Looked bad. I am hoping the use of the heat gun will remove the bulk of the glue. That and using stronger fishing line compared to weak dental floss.
