Default Harsh 1-2 Shift TSB

It seems like Audi is addressing the 1-2 rough shift with new software. I have already contacted my dealer about it. Has anyone done this and notice any difference?

I believe I read on the A4 forum that the TSB eliminates the downshift to 1st gear if the car is moving, which avoids the shift "lurch" and may produce a slight delay in acceleration if going slow enough in 2nd gear until the revs build up. I thought it was for 2.0T enigines but I could be wrong - I haven't experienced the issue at all on my 2013 3.0T.

I have a 3.0T and my issue is when in stop and go traffic, most of the times 1-2 is very harsh when the car up shifts without gas being supplied. i.e. car is stationary, release brake pedal, slightly press the accelerator for ~1 second, then let go of your right foot. If 1-2 happens right after you let go of the gas pedal, the shift will be extremely rough. It is similar to someone just rear ended you.

sometimes i tried to avoid ensuring i have enough room in front of me before moving the car. I hope this software update fixes it.

I had my '13 a6 3.0T updated with this fix; it does indeed solve the harsh downshift/upshift. It does have the side effect of never shifting to 1st until the car comes to an absolute stop. This can make the car feel lethargic if starting up a hill from an almost, but not complete stop. Nevertheless, it was worth it for me since it did address the 2-1 harsh downshift I was experiencing.

i have never noticed the car shifts to 1 while still in motion. in my situation, 2-1 is harsh but not as harsh as 1-2.
