So far, no response.

Given that they were showing this wood in all the press photos when the car was released, I am disappointed that it's not offered. It's a 1,000 Euro option in Germany, but one I would gladly pay for since it makes the car so much better looking inside.

The lack of sun shades baffles me completely, since these are available on the A4/A5 and A8. It certainly gets hotter in most places in the US than it gets anywhere in Germany, so they should offer these here.

I'll post an update if Audi responds to my request ...
The rollout of the A6 has been a disaster of epic proportions. Yet again we have another example of a potential customer emailing Audi with a perfectly legitimate question and getting no response. And this is supposed to be a premium product at a premium price point? Either Audi doesn't give a crap about the American market or they are in complete and utter disarray. In either case you don't want to be a customer in need of service support from a company that only-too-obviously couldn't care less about your business (or your satisfaction).

A few words come to mind in describing the rollout of the A6.

Yeah, you're right. The product has been delivered on time, works great, and is a blast to drive, and at a great value.

You know what is an epic fail? You still trolling on this board.

BTW the head of Audi of America was online answering questions in a chat room (Fourtitude) LIVE for several hours a few weeks ago. When was the last time another exec did that? http://forums.fourtitude.com/showthr...udi-of-America

I understand you got a BMW instead of the Audi you had originally looked at. Congratulations on that. I wonder why you still come to this forum if you have chosen to go another way? And then I wonder why the only posts I see from you are rants against Audi.

My advice is to move on and frequent the BMW forums, since there is nothing here for you anymore. To me this looks like you are only here to fight your personal vendetta against Audi because you didn't get what you wanted. You should let it go and move on.

I will happily wait for Audi to respond (who knows how many people in Germany and the US they have to go through to get an answer to my questions, marketing people, product planners, product line managers, etc.) when they have an answer. It's a big organization and I am sure the person sitting at the receiving end of my questions doesn't have the answers neatly prepared in a big FAQ for them.

I posted information on that wood trim very earlier and absolutely feel in love with it. The response from my dealer through their German counterparts came pretty quickly that it's not available for the US market. I simply asked to let me know when and if there was anyway to special order it - at any cost!

In the end, I too couldn't wait for the (now) late November delivery because of their wood supplier issues and have placed an order for a 535xi myself (even with standard wood trim offerings). However, I visit and respond in these forums because Audis are still a great car and as I like to say about people - "It takes all kinds" to make this world function.

I know that if I ever happen to see a Garnet Red A6 fully loaded with Prestige, Innovation, B&O with velvet beige interior and this stacked oak wood trim sitting on a dealer's lot - I'll take a loss on my BMW to drive it home!

The car wasn't the issue on why I went with the BMW - the extended delay in receiving the order wasn't in my cards. They're both really good cars in their own ways!

Is the wood inlay (walnut or ash) an automatic option on the prestige model? I was looking at a prestige window sticker online, which had the wood inlays shown in the interior photos, but there was no upcharge (or even a listing of the inlay at all) on the window sticker.

On premium plus models the window sticker lists the brushed aluminum as included at no-charge. Just seemed odd the wood inlays weren't even listed on the prestige window sticker, included free or not.

It's about color options, really. With a black or gray interior you can choose wood or aluminum. With the beige you can only choose wood. It's not related to premium, premium plus, or prestige. Any of the three trims, fine grain ash, dark brown walnut, or aluminum trim are all included.

Ah, OK, thanks. Makes sense now. Something I read led me to believe even the walnut and ash were a premium charge option. To me, the aluminum trim just doesn't work with this car, so it's good there's no upcharge for wood.

Another interior question. In this photo:

the wood looks to have a thick high gloss finish. Edit: never mind. Found the answer.
