Default Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3

I am getting a good deal on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 Ultra-High Performance Sport tires. I was told this is a relatively new tire and it is extremely good. Now this is what a tire shop said and they tend to be biased. If anyone has bought this particular tire can you please share your experience?

I am really looking for a good set of A/S tires and this set, at least on paper, seems to be really hard to pass.

I am a huge Michelin fan, but must say thr General GMAX AS-03 I put on my M have been excellent. They score very high on Tirerack and are much less costly than Michelin. I have 24K miles on them and they still have 5/32 tread left. They have an aggressive looking unidirectional tread tha looks good, but cause a tad more noise than a non-unidirectional tire. Check them out.

My brother is getting them on Saturday and said he has seen good things about them as well.

The one thing that bothers me the most is tire noise, and I'd be happy to pay a littler more for a better tire.

I just looked on tire rack, and you can get 4 20" AS3's for under $1000. They are my 1st choice to try when I need another all season tire replacement.

While I personally do not have experience yet with this tire, based on my experiences with other Michelin's, I would not hesitate to buy it.
Michelin tires for me have always outperformed other brands.

Here is a professional review if you are interested:

I would have bought this tire as I too wanted all seasons on my vehicle, but I was able to get my dealer to include a set of all-seasons at no cost when I bought the car. Free trumped my desire for Michelins. But when i eventually need new tires, I will get these (or an updated version) Michelins

I had the opportunity to drive a car with the new Michelin AS 3.

It was a 19" tire, and I was quite dissapointed with the noise level. I was hoping it would be a lot quieter.

I think any high performance oriented tire is going to produce some noise. I had General G-MAX A03 on my last car, my M37 had horrible noise deadening so they were loud, no louder than the Summer Tires that came on it. I opted for the Michelin AS3 on my A6 and love the tires, yes they do make more noise that the stock AS Contis that were on the car, but the handling and steering precision are many times better, so it seems like a fair trade off.

I just installed them (1000 miles ago) on my car (19") and have been very happy. Replaced the OEM with them. I can't say I noticed any loss of performance in the dry but then again I don't push it to 9/10ths. I do not have any regrets putting them on in lieu of a summer tires. Plus, we make many trips to Mammoth (Ca) in the winter and wanted something that could handle a little snow as well. Noise is very subjective, but my initial reaction was "hmmm..not as quiet as I thought they would be" but this does not mean they're noisy either.

The A6 also gets a larger profile. It's a little extra rubber on the road and that can help.

A 19" A4/S4 rim is a 35 series tire, and the 19" A6 is a 40 series.

can anyone compare the noise of these tires to the OEM pirelli P zero's which are annoyingly loud? I had continental DWS on my previous 2006 a6 and my 2012 has p zeros which i swear are at least twice as loud. So i am wondering how the a/s 3's compare road noise wise to those 2 if anyone has any feedback or comparison i would love to hear it.

thanks
