Default Push Button Start

dumb question, but its been on my mind....

I am not fond of where Audi chose to put the Start/stop button... It worries me that it can accidentally be pushed by myself or a passenger while playing with the MMI, or putting their hands on the console

Can you turn the A6 off while driving?? I never tried on my Acuras, but the button was in a location that you would have to intentionally press it...

The car wouldnt shut off if its in motion, I think you have to hold the button for a certain duration to shut off the car if its in motion.

Try it out in a empty parking lot at a slow speed. Try it in neutral too.

Be aware that you might have reduced braking and steering if the engine shuts down.

You can but if it's anything like my Lexus IS 250 then you would have to hold the button for at least three seconds. An accidental touch of the button shouldn't do a thing (I learned this when I read about the runaway Lexus that occurred a few years ago in San Diego when the car all of a sudden had exceleration and reached a speed of 100 mph - all were killed. It wasn't well know at the time but Lexus stated that the only way to turn off the engine was a button push lasting at least three seconds).

I think you have to be in park or neutral for the stop button to stop the engine

I remember that story... the driver of the car was a CHP officer. I was following the Lexus ES "Pedal" situation, way before it became a "Toyota Camry" problem...

Tragic....

According to my old C6 A6 owner's manual:

"if you press the stop button with the transmission in R,D,or S and speed below 10km/h and brake pedal depressed, the engine will be switched off."

Not the case for the new series. Park or neutral only
