Is the S6 4.0 V8 really that much faster than the RS5 or the S4/S5 ?
Or is it only a beast when you use launch control to get to 3.7 secs 0-60?
I'm curious for any feedback. Thanks.

While I like tenspeed's idea of exploring the possibility of swapping seats, I would say stay away from it...

The cars these days are incredibly complex and who know what electronics would also need to be changed/modified to accommodate the swap..Also if you have a problem later on which is because of this swap, i am dead sure the dealer will just desert you...

I wish you could keep the diamond stiched interior w/ the "comfort seat"

The comfort seat has ventialtion, which is a huge plus.

I still think it's a very nice seat either way. But it's your money and need to be happy.

It's hard to say who's fault it is. As a buyer, the "comfort sport seat" is an extra $1950, so you have to take some responsibilty to check you order and do the math and look at the order guide.

BOTH are listed as sport seats. One is a confort seat with ventilation, and the other is not.

I always request a copy of the order form to review before signing off on a build but it is also the SA's job to thoroughly review and provide a copy of the build to you.

If I was special ordering a car, I'd ALWAYS want a copy of the build so I can review it.

They can print a copy of your order and give it to you.

Not just a buyers order, but the actual order sent to Germany.

You are right - i should have seen the build order, however my buyer's order was correct - it was an entry issue (and the dealership totally accepted responsibility for misplacing the order - it wasn't even a discussion). I have never ordered a car custom before - so i guess i learned my lesson and am paying for it now. Working out a solution - will know in a day or two what we can do. I don't want to swap the seats in the actual car - but we have a few other choices. Will let you know when you figure it out.

Someone asked about the comfort seats - they look identical to the ones in the A6 - so you can see them at a dealership or online - the pic on the website is decent. I know it's all personal preference - and people probably really like the ventilation/massage features - but to me they didn't feel nearly as firm as the sport seats will (using my S4 as a comparator - and i know these S6 ones are even better) - and i personally think the diamond stitching looks good (again - personal pref).

In the meantime - the 15 minute test drive has me HOOKED. This car is an absolute beauty - can't wait till i have one full time. Thanks for the feedback and will let you know what happens.

The "comfort" seats in the S6 are not the same seats that they have in the A6. They are the sport comfort seats. You still may not like them, but they have significantly better bolsters on the sides than the normal comfort seats, and they can adjust in to where they will squeeze the life out of you if you want them to.

I didn't think I'd like them either, but when I got in and tried them, I really found them to be every bit as supportive as my S4 seats, plus the ventilate and the massage is actually kind of awesome.

Anyway, just thought I'd point that out - they aren't the same as the A6 seats.

And no, my car hasn't come in yet - just tried out the demo car at the dealer.

I was asking about the comfort seats for my wife's bad back. I got a look at a S6 yesterday at the dealership and she can take more medication. Those diamond stitched seats are the way to go. They take the whole car up a notch. Forget about wood trim with them too. Carbon fiber is a natural with that interior.

Finally got everything resolved (and have a build order in my hand!). Thanks for everyone's advice.

The original dealer (who fully accepted responsibility for the mistake of mis-entering the order) - and said they would "make it up to me". They unsuccessfully tried to find a similar car (I was willing to be reasonably flexible on items i didn't really care about) - and of course they couldnt. So then i asked them to let me know what they could offer on a new order - and they were amazingly generous in offering me a $500 add'l discount (which i thought was an embarrassment - considering i'm a totally new customer - who has already recommended people to them before - and they had screwed up). I ended up going back to my old dealer - just to see what they would do and they gave me a fantastic price - since i've already bought a few cars there etc. They were able to get a car already in pre-production (supposedly put in early Aug) - and it's scheduled to arrive in port at the end of Dec for dealer delivery 1st week of Jan. Not sure how much to trust the dates - but that is what is on the actual build order. Brilliant black/black interior (reg sport seat!)/ innovation, cold weather, LED, sunshades, B&O, black headliner

In the meantime- i took out an S6 they had on the lot - and i didn't want to leave the car - it is truly a beautiful machine. Took an on-ramp and got to 60+mph in what seemed like 4 secs - without any effort - what a great suspension - and a nice rumble to boot - i could go on and on. I actually liked the HUD as well - thought that was helpful (never had one before) -

Thanks again for the thoughts. Please send more initial impressions so that i can drool while i wait..... i'm now so excited for this beast to arrive.
