I pulled my strut assembly on my C7.5 to replace a strut mount and ran into a quandary on reinstallation. The strut fork is separated from the strut when removing the coil spring assembly from the car and the VAG instructions call for aligning a T-pin on the strut to the fork when reinstalling. I do not have any T-pins on the factory struts (sport suspension.)
I was able to line up the fork using the dirt mark under the fork slot but I have no idea how this would be addressed if and when I replace the strut. It is important to ensure the fork mates up correctly with the lower forward control arm.
What have others done to ensure proper fork alignment with new struts?
