Default TPMS question

Since I have had my 2013 A6 P+ I have been following the owner’s manual instructions to reset the TPMS whenever I change the pressures. The instructions re: TPMS re-setting do not say that the car must be in motion when you do this (the wording is similar to the instructions for other things like checking the oil that are done while stationary) so for years I have been doing this in my garage after resetting the tire pressures. Today a thought occurred to me while I was doing it: as has been discussed here and in the manual “the TPMS compares the tire tread circumference and vibration characteristics of the individual tires”, so how can the setting be made when the car is stationary? There are no vibration characteristics at rest, and I am confused how the circumference is calculated other than on something like a revolutions per minute/mile (or whatever) basis – again how can this be done at rest when resetting the TPMS?
Thanks for any input.

You are just clearing out the memory when you reset it, and the system relearns the circumferences and vibration characteristics starting with the next time you drive.

From SSP 381 (2007 Audi TT)

Operation and displays
The teach-in process is performed once after the
SET key is pressed for the low tyre pressure indicator.
During the next trip, the control unit saves the
measured wheel speeds and the vibration characteristics
of the wheels in various vehicle operating
states. The vehicle operating states are basically
defined by the following parameters: vehicle speed,
steering angle, transverse acceleration and yaw
velocity. These teach-in values subsequently make
up the target data which is used for monitoring.
After approximately 10 minutes of driving, it is
already possible to detect a breakdown (rapid loss
of pressure) . Approximately 60 minutes of driving
are required to detect diffusion loss (slow loss of
pressure).

The Audi manual leaves out "During the next trip, the control unit saves the measured wheel speeds and the vibration characteristics of the wheels in various vehicle operating
states." Thanks
