Default bad abs control module???

My car got flooded out again. Last time the transmission control module got fried...now, I have a solid abs light and a blinking brake light (with 3 beeps when I start the car). I can't communicate with the abs module either with vag-com. Is my abs control module bad? Where is it located? Should I send it out to get rebuilt? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Make sure the car is dried out. The abs module is fastened to the hydraulic pump body which is right in front of the expansion tank/brake booster. It's the bundle of snakes...the module is the black box to the outside. Perhaps the connector(s) just got wet.

How far up did the water go? Was it salt water?

Go to:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...OC:MOTORS:1123

If yours needs repair.

It's a pain to remove...have to take out the left fender liner to get to the six torx or allen head screws...also two electrical connectors, one on the bottom and the other on the side further up. You pull the **** and the connector levers up the connection. The bottom one is a typical audi connector, push in the lock and the connector comes off.

I was able to replace my abs module in a couple hours after I winkled out the screws.
Be careful of the windshield washer pump seal...it probably isn't very good after 8-10 years and can leak. Either replace it or empty the washer tank, dry around the seal interface, reseal with whatever you like that resists alcohol.

You don't need vag-com to reset the abs, at least I didn't on my 2K4.2A6.

I see many posts regarding this flooding and brake module issues or interior carpet getting wet and so forth...

Is this because the drain under the battery is not being cleared?

Never experienced this (and don't want to either) may be because every fall and periodically, I inspect the areas around battery and fenders to see if debris collected and take it out. Also, once a year, try to remove battery and clean out / flush to make sure the drains are not clogged.

To me this sounds like a simple regular maintenance issue. If there is something else, curious to find out so I can avoid this.

The rain water was a couple inches deep on the passenger side. I'm hoping that a connector got wet but it seems as though the carpet is fairly dry. Thanks for all the info on its location.

I do clear the drain tubes for the sun roof but have never cleared any other drain. Thanks for that info also.

Are there any connectors related to the abs module under the passenger side carpet?

I am very sure the water came in through the loose plastic plenum/mould (may have the name wrong) right above the windshield and below your wipers. The water then travels to the Cabin filter and pours through it to the blower unit and then falls into the front passenger side footwell. I had the same exact issue and could not figure out why my front passenger had water after rain and carwash.. it was not blocked drains too... luckily I have a plastic mat and that saved some electronics.. STFA. Best is to use Silicon and stick the plenum/mould to the windshield glass on the full length of the windshield. I have had this for the past 3 years and no water issues..learnt this from the forum here..

Thanks for the great information concerning the windshield cowl. I'll have to check it out over the weekend.

Unfortunately, I still don't know if I have a bad abs controller or just a wet connector. I'm thinking if the abs controller is under the fender then either it went bad at the same time I got flooded out or it is just a wet connector under the passenger side carpet.

No, vag-com can't communicate with the abs controller. The transmission control module is safe & dry. After replacing it the last time, I won't put it back under the carpet.

It's not your abs ecu if that's all the water you got. Of course the water outside could be higher than inside, but probably not.
