Leaving it in the car, or taking it out and removing rubber/plastic parts? P21S Cycle wash

works great when you have a wide variety of materials. Takes longer and more work than if you use Simple Green (can mar some finishes) or Engine degreaser (very hard on rubber/plastic).

In car. The front crank seal has a very slow leak, and the previous owner

didn't clean it up from time to time :P I'd love to pull my engine and clean it up/refurb it, but I don't have the time.

I would love to pull the engine out of my car too, but I wonder if it is really complicated....

I never done it before on any car.

Complicated, no. Time consuming, yes : (

You just need to pay attention to what you are doing, and make sure that you have the right tools for the job. Organization is also a key factor. I keep all fasteners in labeled Zip-Lock bags, and I also number both sides of electrical connections using tape and a marker. You can also use a camera to take "before" pics, so that you can make sure that everything went back together correctly. Better safe than sorry

The factory allows 13 hours or so, to R&R the 2.7t. Depending on your skills, tools, and

facility, that may or may not be enough time.

Simple Green works great. Let it soak for 10min & use a pressure washer to blast off the gunk

Use the Simple Green straight out of the bottle and don't dilute it at all. If you have some really bad build up you may want to start with brake cleaner to get the worst of the grease off.

Be carefull when pressure washing the engine. Don't use the high pressure spray on any electrical components or connections. Also don't spray clean you engine when it's hot. Let it cool for a 1/2 hour or so before soaking it.
