c5 auto to manual swap?'s
so i have a 1999 audi a6 quattro
2.8 aha engine
auto ekx auto tip trans
with that out of the way i'm looking to convert over to a manual 5 speed or 6 speed if so possible. looking for as much info as i can digest in order to start gathering parts to do this. my current auto trans has been on its last leg for the pass year. with just recently starting to slip in fourth gear any where above 2,000 rpms. i've searched as much as i can with the only topics being found on b5 1.8 auto to manual swaps. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Understandable. I don't intend on spending more than $1500 on the swap, including the price I paid for the car I'm still way under book. Anyone have a site or info on what manual trans is comparable to my auto trans?

For what it's worth, unless you have a shop/tools and help with labor etc., these swaps are not really worth in my opinion. Of course it is not an easy job and things may or may not pan out right after those "transplants". For me, it makes sense to make use of the car as long as possible and seek to trade & buy another car. This way, it is an upgrade on many levels. Not that this happens all the time, a friend of mine in the younger days spent a lot of money to "transform", out of all the cars, a Corolla! Even at that time, I thought it was not a bright idea. Couple months later he crashes this toy and insurance won't even refund his upgrades etc. and gave him market value for total loss. So, unless you are in a financial position that you don't care about the money you pour into this, I'd say stay away from these.

Don't really have a bunch of money to throw at this swap. I do have the time, tools, and the facility. Just looking for the info needed to get going in the right direction. The only that is wrong with this car is the trans issue. So I'd rather not do an auto swap and have the same issue down the road.
