the wife LOVES the A6 3.0 Avant - now we work on the price...

Let me just add - that A6 3.0 Avant is a GREAT car!

My wife was totally sold hook line and sinker, and I had to shut her up because the dealer was starting to get ideas on how he won't have to make a killer deal. I'm not too fond of the ultra-red dash with the red LEDS, red backlights, and even red spotlights on the entire console - it's a bit much, but just takes getting used to. The dealer brought us to a great turn and told her to really take it without braking, but she couldn't do it - damn.

The time in the A6 3.0 Avant makes me even more excited for the RS6, but he was telling me they START MAKING them in May for the U.S., then shipping them, so the first ones won't be here and available until late August :-(

Congratulations! Keep us informed how you go. One last thing...

...if you decide to keep the car for over 4 years, then I would consider investing in the extended service plan. Having 100K coverage is a huge benefit.

If you are just leasing the Avant and plan on flipping it in 3-4 years, then don't worry about it.

FYI - You can only get the extended Audi service plan at the time of purchase. The other 3rd party plans are not as comprehensive as Audis.

Thanks for the recommendation - how much is the extended service plan?

We do plan on purchasing it, and it will be my wife's car for about 7 years or so...

I'm not an authority on the pricing but I think they can range between $1K - $2K.

Audi USA's website says Audi does not offer extended warranties - only individual dealers do...

doesn't that defeat the purpose, since you are referring to the comprehensive nature of the Audi warranty versus a 3rd party warranty??

from the website:

Currently, Audi does not offer an extended warranty program. Warranty extensions are administered on an individual dealer basis. My wife hated those lights the first coupla times in the car...but now loves them...

they do seem like a bit much at first...but quickly become calming and almost unnoticeable...much less glaring and annoying to the eyes on long trips.

You will likely quickly get to thinking that they are one of the smartest ideas in the car...very good for night driving...very easy on the eyes...and I have mine up to full blast!
