Default distorted windshield A6

2001 A6 2.7T. Original winshield and 2 replacements are severely distorted. Audi is stonewalling on defect. Please give me any feedback if anyoneis experiencing similar problems.
Thanks,
Zaditor

I had the same problem when I got my A6 4.2. The dealer was pretty good though and agreed on the distortion (pretty bad). The replacement windshield had some very minor distortion. The dealer agreed but I decided to keep it as it was very minor. Also live in Colorado where you need to replace your windshield every 2 years.

This has been a hot topic. The problem seems nearly universal. Varying degree of success reported with replacements. Many have reported replacements as bad, or worse, than original. One poster reported success with having dealer install non-OEM windshield. Concerns with fit/seal issues with any replacements. There was also a quality concern with non-OEM replacements, but I can't remember the nature. You probably know AoA via a TSB acknowledged the problem. Most folks have found they're able to live with this problem after awhile.

Default Call Audi Client Relations

I had a similar experience and called Audi Client Relations. It wasn't easy, and I really had to press the point, but they agreed to try again.

Also, be sure to read the pamphlet that came with the car on consumer rights and the steps to take if you have a warranty dispute. This is a material defect, the car is under warranty, and no one can say that you caused the problem in any way.

Default Forgot about them. In my home state of Wisconsin they have...

...snow sharks, but they tend to affect tires more than windshields!

Had the windshield replaced on my 2001 A6 2.8Q. The original had serious distortion and I was getting headaches driving. The replacement has mild distortion, and I think I can live with it. Given Audi's poor quality control, I'm reluctant to request a 2nd replacement because I might get a worse one. While at the dealer, I inspected several other windhields on 2001 A6's and most of them had distortion - the problem seems widespread.

Interestingly, both my salesman and the sales manager told me they never
heard of the windshield distortion problem! The salesman who delivered the car told me he could not see it! The service manager initially told me he could not see it, but when the OTS saw it right away and approved of the replacement, he finally saw it!

The actual service, however, was excellent and took about 1 hr. I have had no problems with the new windhield (except for the mild distortion.)

The rear window also has distortion, but I have not requested a replacement yet. I love the car, otherwise.

Default Snow sharks

They're actually quite common in cold climates where there's a lot of snow. They're little sharp-toothed creatures that like to lurk in the drifts that are typically left by plows, such as those along curbs and medians. They move very fast, so few people have actually seen the creatures themselves. What's much more commonly witnessed is evidence of their existence, such as large, round bite marks, shredded rubber, etc. Every now and then you might spot a fin moving stealthily through a tall drift.
