Default door ajar/lumbar support...

this has happened since i got my car. my dash is telling me that my rear left door is ajar. i can get it to go off by pushing my back against my seat. so if the dome light is on the center position.. it goes off when i put my back against my seat. ive wondered if it wasnt my door lock mechanism.. but what would explain it turning off when i push on the lumbar support? where do i start? is there a short somewhere? the lights on the bottom of the front seat in the rear are also coming on as the door is "open". should i take the seat out and try some different routing with the harness? thanks.

im not talking about the lumbar support button. im talking about pushing my back against the front of the seat so the lumbar support moves backwards.

There is a short in a wire in the seat. Search for "fuse 14" for more info. Try disconnecting the footwell light under the driver's seat. On the right side toward the front of the seat, there is a stack of connectors. Disconnect the black, 2 wire connector. See if the problem goes away.

The light I'm talking about is the footwell light for tthe left rear passenger seat. I haven't missed it for the 6 years it's been disconnected. But I'm 6'7" and rarely have anyone sit in the seat behind me. If you want to fix the short, you'll need to at least take the back cover off the seat. I seem to recall there being a post showing the wires in question.

Try disconnecting the black connector first to confirm that's what you're dealing with.

As I said before, I haven't had the problem since I unplugged that connector 6 years ago. If you feel compelled to dig around some more, you'll have to open up the driver's seat to find the short. If you search a bit, there were some posts showing where others found the problem.

Personally, I'd recommend that you leave it until you have another reason to go there. Is there any problem other than not having that footwell light? If you have a need to work on your car, don't worry. The opportunities will be there!

i like your view on it. i installed two new window clips on my regulator today and was very fulfilled.. but i will yearn for more soon i know. while i was at the dealer picking them up, i went ahead and shelled out 40 bucks for the coolant temp sensor since they had it in stock. will be installing that my new 710n's and new samco tbb thursday. thanks again for all the help guys.
