Driver info display module
I'm waiting for my 2nd display module for the '01 2.7T. The original one had intermittent disappearing horizontal lines and the 1st replacement had the trip mileage display crap out. I'm told that there are none avail in the US until next year. Anyone else having problems and waiting for a new one?

I had a similar problem...
And after replacing the instrument cluster, it got worse. It turned out that the radio was causing the problem. They replaced the radio and all was fixed. Apparently, much of the funtionality of that display is either routed through, or controlled by, the radio. Strange but true.

Just had mine replaced under AA last week. They replace your entire instrument cluster... I do not believe there are none in the US... does not seem to ring true..., but maybe it is since it is a very common problem. Mine had the lines... lack of upper display, blips and then worked fine when I wanted to show the dealer.
Finally, I started my car one morning and the line appeared accross the second tier... Once at the dealer I showed the Service Mgr... The next day my display was fine again, but I heard a slight buzzing noise coming from the cluster. They ordered it, it came a week later, and the day I went to get the job done it fritzed out so as to allow the mechanic to see the fault finally.

Once yours is in be prepared to give up your license for a dealer copy... AoA's way of curbing theft... and manipulation of the miles.

The upper portion of the display went blank.....
Then after they replaced the instrument cluster, I was getting a constant message similar to: "Press clutch pedal before turning key to start the engine" (I don't remember the exact syntax), and sometimes the display would go completely blank. Replacing the radio fixed it.

As I said, this is the second one - no trip odometer this time. It's just locked up about 300 miles after the first module display replacement. Funny, they didn't ask for my driver's license - I had to sign an Audi document though attesting to the changed display. They reset my odometer for the current mileage and had to reprogram our keys.
I believe my service guy about being the displays being out of stock in the U.S. I've been all over him every other day. He would want the thing in just to get me off his back.
