Default Engine almost in, two more connectors?

So thanks to everyone's help all the vacuum lines and hoses are hooked up. I have most of the electrical connectors and sensors hooked up as well. Two plugs defy me Any info on where these two attach are appreciated.

Good news! It RUNS!

I traced wire #2, I think it is an old AHA style oil sensor wire.

#1 looks like an O2 maybe? Any help there is appreciated.

Car was sitting without a motor for 6+ months so it smoked when it started (white), I presume because of plenty of water in the exhaust.

Oil pan is seeping a little around a bolt, maybe a new gasket is in order.

Power steering pump made a funny sound, it was a little low on fluid so I topped it off. Does it need to be bled, having been apart for a while?

Those connectors are used on camshaft hall sensors, fuel injectors, EVAP purge valve, vehicle speed sensor (on transmission), cam chain adjusters, SAI vacuum valve, intake manifold tuning vacuum valve, reverse light switch, and knock sensors on my 4.2. Why not start it (try to start it) and see what trouble codes you get?

Like I posted it runs ok You are right, I will get my VAG-COM out tomorrow and see what kind of errors pop up. I am so happy, after all this time it runs again. Once I nail this down it comes back apart for TB, WP, and seals.

I think you're right that #2 is the oil temp sensor. If it is, your oil temp gauge will give you no reading when the car gets up to temperature. This oil temp sensor is just to the right of the crank shaft pulley. ATQ engines (and others) have the sensor located under the oil pan.

I'm not sure where the oil temp gauge connection is on a 2001 but maybe you can route wires to make the connection if you care to get the gauge working.

#1 - if its the last one on the right of those four connectors, according to Bentley for a 2.8 its the knock sensor G61.

Thanks! Were is that sensor on the 2.8 motor? The car had an ATQ from the factory now it has an AHA (change over intake parts).

Doing this on my phone is a real pita, hope it works, best link I can find you is this:

Copy that into your browser. The gif attached at the bottom of the text appears to be the same engine as ours.
