Engine overheating
Took my wife’s 3.0 A6 for a test drive this morning and noticed the interior wasn’t heating up , fan was working but only blowing cold air . As I drove the engine temp warning came on and both the coolant temp and engine oil temp were getting up there . I got home and let it cool before they got dangerously high . My question is what the connection would be between the engine temp rising and no heat in the cabin . Thermostat ? I just ordered a new VCDS so haven’t been able to run a scan yet

Use a thermo gun or a thermal imaging camera to look at the temperatures on the hoses to and from the radiator, and at the outlet of the thermostat. Check the temperatures across the radiator, should be hot on the top and colder on the bottom.

Thank you for the reply , I actually found the issue was my wife said she had filled the reservoir but when I asked after this issue she said no she couldn’t get the cap off .. when it was hot it looked like it was filled but when it cooled it dropped below the add line . My bad for posting before I triple checked the basics
