Default ESP module need help.

Hi I know I'm on the wrong side of AW, but my cousin has a 2001 A6 2.7t Auto and had some water damage to his car. We bought and changed all 3 modules with used ones, TCM, VDO and ESP/ABS. The car is running fine now but the ESP module isn't coded, has all 00000. We don't have the codes from the old one since that one was totally dead and we are unable to retrieve the codes with the VAG-Tool.
Anybody know/have the codes to reset ESP?
Thanks in advance.

Default It can be recoded, but it requires a login, and a WSC other than 00000 set as default...

I can look up the code at home on the Bentley Manual, which will also give the login code, etc. He will have to recalibrate the steering angle sensor.

Default Here is some basic information, and I will confirm the codes when I get home later...

For coding the ESP control module, see this link : <a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/espcoding.html">Ross-Tech's ESP control Module coding info</a>

If your cousin has a 2001 2.7T Tiptronic, then my guess is that it is the code on the line of the chart for the 2.7T Automatic with HP2 brakes, with Login - 09497 and ESP module code - 04397. Again, I wil confirm these numbers at home on the Bentley (unless someone else has it handy and wants to chime in before I get home).

Note: I followed these instructions a while back, but the login would not work. The Bentley Manual revealed taht the WSC (work shop code) cannot be "00000" (which modifies control modules in "ghost" mode) but some real number. You can enter a new WSC in the setup of the VAG COM.

Once the ESP module is recoded, then you must recalibrate the steering angle sensor for ESP, and here is another link with more info on that: <a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/steeringangle.html">Ross-Tech steering angle sensor calibration</a>

Hope this helps!!!

Alright, I'll try that tonight and will let you know if it works.
Last question, can I just put a WSC from another module, like the ECU? or is the WSC specific?

Default Pull up a VAG COM scan of his car, and copy the WSC of an existing shop...

...each control module has a work shop code associated with it, so pick one and go to the "Options" screen and enter an existing WSC that is not "00000"

<a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/tour/option_screen.html">VAG-COM Options Screen</a>

Then you are ready to login to recode the ESP module. The one thing is that once a WCS is entered, it is greyed out and you cannot change it. I can't remember the steps, but you have to go into one of the "ini" files to delete the code, and it will revert back to the "00000"

The tech support folks at Ross-Tech can walk you through resetting the WSC after you are done helping your cousin.

Default Re: HERE ARE THE CORRECT ESP CODES!!!

thanks a bunch. I haven't had time to work on my cousins car, it's been freezing up here in the midwest so I'll have to post the results this weekend.

Default It didn't work.

Well, it didn't work. I can login with no problem, I have changed the workshop code in my VAG settings, but the cursor stops moving and nothing happens after I put the code in. Stumped
