Default ESP Problem

Anyone got any advice , my ESP has started playing up for no real reason , wet or dry it occasionally flashes the warning light on the dash and cuts engine power momentarily (last night it did it quite badly) but it is only intermitent . Can be at slow speed or high speed . This morning I ended up with a solid light on the dashboard which I assume means it had de-activated itself ......

That's a tough one, but not uncommon. Try SFTA in all forums, not just this one. I think you might find some good info in the B5 S4 forums.

most ESP problems trace back to a wheel speed sensor

No , nothing has been touched , not even had a wheel off ! had the garage reset the sensor and it has "coughed" twice since this morning .....

Default mine just started to act up as well, then it triggered the check engine light. hopefully i will get

a vag today to check on the porblem. what i do notice is when i press the brake and put it in reverse. changes smoothly. when i change it into drive and here the tranny go clunk. but it drives fine, no slipping or drag or hesitation. could it be time for a new 6 speed tranny conversion..... wonder if the insurance will cover that
