EZ Pass doesn't work through new windshield!
I contacted EZpass on monday to see what the problem was, they told me that my tolls were going through and to ignore the flashing red stop light. They claim the problem is that it's not velcroed to the windsheild. (I guess I'm some kind of idoit that can't hold the thing in the correct direction.) So yesterday I figured what the heck, and I held my arm & EZpass out the window as an experiment. Sure enough it works!
So I have temporarily mounted it to my sunroof and it works fine now. I guess I'm just going to have to experiment to find the best usable location.
I can't wait to see next months statement so I can see if I was actually charged. The EZpass attendant said as long as I'm driving my own car that the tolls would go through. So I guess that means they read plates.....but my plate is sprayed so you can't take pictures of it....and I have limo tint over the cover. Hmmmm?.! It doesn't make much sense to me, especially since I called EZpass right after I drove through the toll. How could a plate get processed that quickly? I really don't see it possible.
If not, you'll have to either keep using the pass out the window or get the license plate mounted one.
I noticed that the routine toll booths I travelled through wouldn't light up as I passed through, I would check online and, sure enough, the tolls hadn't registered (they appear within the same day to 2 days later).
Oddly enough, it worked when I had it sitting on the left portion of the dash, label side down (velcro up). I even went so far as to mount it under the dash, behind the instrument cluster, so it's completely stealth...it's worked every time since then. (??)
PS - I have found that the speed threshold is about 32 or so for most non-high speed booths. :P
Sooo, I can't help...but I can waste your time with a related story. :P
