Default help!

Alright im debating on what i should get now. I was set on the a6 2.7 6spd, then i started looking at the 00-02 S4s, now im looking at a 1995 S6. I need advice guys! I have the money to spend but i want something that's going to be fun, handle snow well, not terrible on maintenance, and low on insurance costs. Im looking at a 1995 s6 that has roughly 140,000 miles, carfax certified, and could also come w/ a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. Thanks for all your help guys! I NEED IT! =D

I think of all your choices the 1995 might cause you the most heart ache with maintenance.

Default No matter how sturdy, the older a car, the more stuff there is to wear out.

Rubber, plastic, joints, rust, etc. It's just age doing it's thing.

The old S6 is a fantastic car, and you might luck into a great example, but then the luck of the draw says you could just as easily get a project car.

All other things being equal, newer is usually better if you want a daily driver.

Default Realizing that luck has a lot to do with it, I spend far less fixing my urS than I do on the A6's.

No ABS problems
No cat problems
Turbo can be removed in two hours (for upgrades only - it never needs work)
The urS has two control arms that rarely need work.
The urS tie rods are basically lifetime.
Best of all, no urS automatics in the US.

Default 1995 S6, or 1995.5?

Important distinction mainly for the transmission.

Default All good choices, i think its up to your preference

I had an 00S4. Fun car. The A62.7T is quite abit softer and slower, but also bigger nad nicer. Take your pick. Both should be pretty reliable, but the big caveat is the TO3 turbos whcih are small and delicate. well treated, they last fine. Abused - or even not pampered (meaning synthetic, careful warm up, cool down) --and they have a history of dying early.

The older S6 may be my personal favourite, but it will require much more maintanance. But then again, you may have an extra 410Gs in your pocket to maintain it with.
