Default Help! Car is 2 days away, ordered Xeons but car doesn't have them. Take it or wait another 3 months?

Just got a call from the dealer today. I was hoping he would be saying the car had arrived at the dealership a couple of days early.

If the stock market woes weren't bad enough, he tells me the car doesn't have the Xenon's that I ordered.

I do a lot of back country road driving, (since I take the route less traveled to beat commute) and had a near collision with a deer. Since then, I've been very impressed with the how the Xenons work, and light the surroundings.

My questions are:
1- Could the regular lights be swapped out for Xenons?
2- When this type of mistake happens (somewhere between dealer and factory), if I reorder the car and wait 3 months, does the dealer provide me with a loner?
3- If not, what kind of "compensation" is acceptable and fair?

Any insight and help is really appreciated.

Close and yet so far,
ERT

Xenon's are worth the wait, they compare favorably withthe euro H1's on my Carrera to date the best

Default Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago ( long)

I ordered my 4.2 before Thanksgiving. It arrived in the middle of March. I ordered the heated seats, but they were not on the car when it came in. I am still upset about the whole thing. (A little less so that now I ordered a 2001 4.2 in Nemo Blue) The dealer tried to get me to take the car. Who is going to buy a 50K+ car in southern Ohio w/o heated seats? I declined and things got worse from there. They promised a car within three days. They said they would truck it in.(I didn't want any miles) Then they said they wouldn't. Three days turned into two weeks. Still no car. I went in and asked about the situation. The sales mgr. basically said that I would have to pay for the options (the ones I didn't order) that were on the car they had "found", even though they promised that they would "give" me the options. Obviously, I had a bad dealer.
Don't take the car. The xenons are great. Have them find a car that matches your specs. Acept no less. If the only car they can find has more options than you want, they should throw them in. DO NOT pay more for the car than agreed upon in the first place. I don't know how this happens, but it cost my first dealer a sale. I think the dealer and Audi are both at fault. Therefore, you can't hold it all against your dealer. However, they should make things right. Good luck. Let me know how it comes out.

Default I saw quite a few 2.7T's & TT roadsters at my dealer's lot

I believe there's been a big shipment(s) of 2.7T's in California. Make your dealer find one that matches your order or throw in extras if necessary.
I saw a few TT roadsters also. They're gorgeous, especially the gray one with the baseball glove stitching interior. But I guess it's harder for the dealers to push them after what happened to the stock market.

Default Worth the wait

I was not so sure about the xenons, since they are DOT lights, since I've been running euro-spec lights on my A4 for six months.

The A6 xenons are not only brighter than the euro lights on the A4, they have the same pattern. If you've not driven e-spec lights before, it's literally night and day.

You want this option.

GALAXYMALL.COM will sell you xeon systems for 600 bucks but you have to send the lamp houseings in so they can align them.

Default One of our other vehicles is an 88 FJ-62 Land Cruiser with the foer rectangular headlight set-up....

I long ago replaced them with Cibie H1 and H4s. The H1s have 100 watt bulbs and the H4s have 90/100 bulbs. The Xenon set-up in my A6 puts out as much light on a central Oregon highway as that old Land Cruiser.

One reason is the Xenons have a ballast style power supply that is separate from the high-beam bulbs. When you turn on your high-beams, your xenons stay on also. The xenon by itself is VERY bright and has a superb pattern with even fill.

The xenons are more than worth their price!

Default Ew...is your salesman Ernst @ Diablo?....I think we talked about you today...

You should be able to get them aftermarket....but not for the $500 that the dealer would have charged you on the car's option list.

IMHO, I would get the car as is....xenons are nice...but sometimes they can be a detriment.

Default Yes. Ernst has been first class all the way.

Ernst has been a first class sales rep. Actually Steve, it was based on your recommendation that I went there. I guess you and Chris JB are regulars.. ;-)

Anyways, I'll go down there this weekend to see if there is anything coming in with my specs. Either way, I have full confidence in Ernst.
