Install newer instrument cluster
Any problems with the Immobilizer? Any issues with CAN? Any other issues?
Any Canadian fellows here with instrument cluster 4B0 920 933S; does it have input for the radio controlled clock used here in Europe?
if your cluster is good , just want extra look of RS6 cluster, best way is to swap the parts, it is easier then trying to program newer cluster to older car
The instrument cluster (IC) with the analog clock has the blue, green and red connector. It also have IMMO version 1.
A6 4.2 1999 use Immo version 2. All IC:s from 2000-2005 have selectable immo, between version 2 and version 3.
BUT, the 1999 A6 4.2 with V8 with the digital clock, have a "hybrid" kind of IC. This means that even if it has the gray 32-pin connector, it does not have the Display-CAN on pin 5 and 6.
So my consern is pointed to the CAN-signalling. SilverBullet LT says he uses an RS6 IC in his A6 4.2 from 2000. But he has some problems with the trip-computer, which does not display correct mpg. This signal is taken from pin 25 in the blue connector directly from the engine control unit. This makes me believe that this signal in the newer cars, from 2001 and onwards, is included in the CAN-bus. Pin T32/25 is not connected in the electrical schemes from 2001 and onwards.
The bottom line to my questions is this: Are there any other conserns regarding the CAN-signalling?

I will give you mine example, I have installed Concert II cd-player in my 99 A6, that has analog clock, my car has no can-bus to rely information for the radio to work propely or display, I have obtain both diagrams of the radio units and wiring, and found that I can hack into wiring and by-pass can-bus all together to get my radio work right , I did have to get into circuit and solder few wires around to by-pass the can-bus chip and it worked, this could be the same possiblity. but I would try first with swapping wires and see if that helps..

I have already checked, and all pin-assignments are exactly the same, for all three connectors, for all "highline" IC. (Highline=Blue, green and gray connector. Midline=Blue and green connector.)
That said, it is not certain that all pins are actually USED inside the IC. As I suspect T32/25, used for the fuel-consumption in FIS/DIS, is there, but might not be logically connected to the FIS/DIS, since the data MIGHT be sent through CAN instead.
I haven't received my new IC yet, so I will see what will work and what doesn't. Anticipation...
it is possiblity that there is more info feed through that wire which possibly goes to Can-Bus chip, but without diagrams hard to say
I want to integrate newer cluster(digital clock) into my car which is non-immo
If the previous post said that the gas consumption is not showing correctly then possibly could be VAG-COM adjustment only, post it when you get it..
