Default modifications

I'll probably get a 2000 2.8 A6 come march...

So far I've decided that some 19" wheels would be nice and I've also been thinking about the GAIC Tip Chip to shorten the tiptronic shifting. Do I need the 2.7t + the engine chip in order to use the tip chip? Or can I just use the tipchip independantly?

Any other reccomended modifications? (I'm also thinking about a pioneer navigation system, if the one I buy doens't come with one...)

I think you can use the tip chip on its own if you desired...

Suggestion: Forget the 19" (or even 18") wheels. You aren't buying a track car. 17" is plenty.

19" wheels looks cool.....but less rubber between ground and rim = pothole dinging rim = more money out of pocket. Depending where you live ( road conditions ) consider that for a factor. I personally have 18's and I live in Chicago ( VERY BAD ROADS ). 40 series tires provide enough protection for me.
Bottom line is choose what you like and what fits your pocket!

19" wheels look very odd IMHO.

Default I wouldn't go with 19" wheels.

Not even race cars use tires with that low a profile. 19" wheels are for looks only, and I don't happen to like the look, not for any performance reasons. In order to realize any advantage from such a low profile tire the suspension would have to keep the wheel perfectly perpendicular to the road all the time, which is not something that the A6, or any other car with an independent suspension, can do. Even 18" wheels probably only provide any benifit to the people who intend to install very large brake disks that won't fit under the stock 17" wheels.

Now you might wonder why the new RS-6 has optional 19" wheels. THe answer is that the RS-6 uses a larger diameter tire than the other A6s so that the aspect ratio of the tires on the Rs-6 is not as low.

Default Yeah Modas are *ok* wheels. If you are going with 19s, you need to buy something

good or you are just asking for trouble.

Default Worry about learning to drive first!

You are 15, know nothing about driving, and want to spend mom and dad's money on a car and 19" rims?

IMO your parents should buy you a Honda and let you crack that up first.

Yes you will have an accident. Yes you will rub curbs. Yes it will take years to learn how to drive well.

*IF* you were serious about cars and driving you would take a driving course and learn how to become a better driver.

I could write down all the reasons why you shouldn't even think about getting 19"s from the fact that they will weigh a ton and slow the car down significantly, increase braking distance, etc. etc. but I'm not going to get into it.

As for the Pioneer Nav system, forget about it, you shouldn't even listen to the radio when you are first driving.

Bottom line is that The Fast and the Furious isn't real, you will not pop behind the wheel and know how to drive.

Stop spending mom and dad's money, get a job, learn how to drive, worry about school and then worry about 19" wheels.
