MTM exhaust installed on the S6.
Cost: exhaust-$1700 tax-$123 shipping-$85 labor-$265
Everything went together and fit perfectly...a quality product.
Impressions:
The system is not all that much louder than stock, but significantly "deeper". A very nice "low" pitch at idle, that comes up "warm & full" with throttle application. No raspiness or brash sounds, like I've heard on other aftermarket systems, just a nice V8 presence all the way through acceleration. The 3" tips fit well in the stock valence opening, and don't look glaringly aftermarket. Performance seems slightly improved, particularly right off the line, as the system definitely feels a little freer flowing and natural.
This is just the first step in my MTM adventure, but so far I'm ecstatic!

but I imagine it is the sound, feel, and performance that makes it worth the $2k...I'd be interested to see and feel the difference for myself...
Damn, I'm going to enjoy my S6!
BTW, my Boxster S business partner drove a Porsche C4S yesterday while getting new oil in the Boxster, and has reported that he felt like he was driving a silly toy (Boxster) home. He loved the Carrera! Keeps my Porsche dreams kicking as he was prepared to hate the 996 (as most Boxster owners are).

My partner owned a 914/6 a long time ago, and I think he'd be offended by your accusation!
