O2 Sensor codes

Default O2 Sensor codes
Hello,

I recently replaced the Cats and the O2 Sensors...and received the following codes...44c4, 44c5,44c6,44c7. I used walker O2 sensors instead of Bosch....would this be the cause? Anyway to test them out to confirm its the O2 Sensors?

Check the readings in VAG-COM.

I only use OEM sensors in my cars. "Universal" or off brand sensors tend not to work well.

What was wrong with the old sensors?

Well the car was over 125k in mileage and I dont think the O2 Senors were ever changed so I decide to change them....Think I shoud give OEM a try?

Oh I guess the mechanic who changed the sensors threw them out....this time around I will try doing it myself.

FWIW, I have all the original O2 sensors in my car at 185k. Wife is running 3 out of 4 originals at 300k.

Contact Joe at Axis Motorsports for the right sensors.

Hey also...OEM is really expansive when you buy from Audi...can I get away with Bosch sensors?

I got proper O2 sensors from E-bay. Much cheaper getting the Bosch sensors that are cross branded for VW vehicles from E bay vs. Audi dealer OEM. The key is getting the right connector type in color and design. Just $0.02.

Ebay is the *last* place I would buy auto parts, especially with the many reputable vendors here and at TOF.

The plug and color are only part of the issue. O2 sensors are like spark plugs. They may all look the same, but they aren't.

I got a new Bosch/VW O2 sensor with green plug and perfect length as the original and it has been trouble free for a year and a half. Cost was $37.00 with free shipping. No codes on that plug. Our cars are fully intertwined with the VW replacement part bin spare parts manufacturing complex as the reach the ten year obsolete phase of their existence. Again, it is the best option to be a purest, but some enthusiasts may have limits on technical skills, or have financial limitations that may benefit from the cheap hack options that are out there as well. I agree with all tech gurus here that the best option is always use Audi OEM parts and don't skimp on doing it right. However, I have had real world success using options fulfilled on a cost/benefit curve including getting replacement parts on Ebay from the Chinese manufacturers that produce replacement parts for the Audis in China; like my center console cup holder which cost $12, vs. about a $100 from a local dealer.

When our cars were $55K new, it made good economic sense to stick with best option; but for some, on a 10 year old car that is worth under $10K, more cost effective hacks may be equally palatable.

That being said, I get most of my stuff from longtime forum sponsor ECS Tuning.

Glad to hear the VW sensors work for Audi's. VW parts should be cheaper than Audi bro's.

How do you which VW matches which Audi O2 sensors?
Is there a cross-reference list or site for that?
