Option code question
Recently got an 01 A6 2.7t 6spd Quattro (my first Audi if you don't count a '76 Fox wagon from college days...) in remarkably good condition for 216K miles - PO had everything done by dealer up through last major service at 199K. Only major issues are brakes (parts on the way from DRT Sport) and an intermittent EGT 2 code (will be repairing the sensor box soon). Needs some help with paint chips, but I'll deal with that eventually. Drives fantastic - I really love turbos, and I was looking for one of these for a while. Got it at a real steal, too.
In researching things, I noticed it has the option code 1SA which decodes as "Without additional front underbody guard"
The car is missing the belly pan under the engine - I assumed someone just removed it. But the option code makes me wonder if the belly pan is the "front underbody guard" and it never had one - anybody know for sure?
Thanks,
Jim

Shows a second underbody noise insulation panel that I don't have on either of my 4.2 cars and
That I've never seen on a us model A6.
The URL ref. doesn't show a p/n either, but perhaps that second underbody panel is the one that isn't there...
I wouldn't think that the belly-pan would have been optional since it's important to the aerodynamics => gas mileage of the car. Does anyone NOT have the 1SA option on your build sticker?
Jim
My 2006 A8 does have a second panel behind the main one, with that front one in turn a bit shorter. It still doesn't reach back to the transmission pan area but gets close. The one further back seems to interact with channeling air that ducts in from the forward belly pan through several different auxiliary coolers that are down there--the W12 is loaded w/ them. To go with it there is a second mounting point further back, with the rear of the front belly pan sharing its mounting area w/ the leading edge of the second pan starting right at its rear edge (side by side, not overlapping). My C5 just doesn't have those kind of expected mounting points back there; would need further brackets and not clear what they would really mount to.
