P0741 code

Hi all, I just got the re-occuring CEL 2 weeks ago and so went to brought a OBDII reader and read the code and got the P0741 code and nothing else. The description on the OBDII code call out Torque Converter Ckt performance or stuck off. I don't really feel any problem with the drive train at this point so I search the forum and kind of confuse on this issue since there are various different opinions and I am trying to sort this out before bring it to the shop. Does this mean that the Torque converter is going to failed anytime? Or is this a sensor problem? What are the step to weed out before I bring it to the shop?

Also I live in the Santa Clara Bay Area-Can anyone recommend a honest shop beside the dealer? Thanks for all in advance.

Can you clear the code with your scanner and see if it reoccurs?

Basically you'll have to replace your TC and if you wait too long you'll have to replace/rebuild your Trans as well. Just went through the same thing. GL

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I cleared it two times and it comes back on both times. My neighbor has a VW V6 Passat with similar code and he said he cleared it by changing a PVC valves because he said it was plunged up and created a oil leak but we both looked a my car and did not see oil leak whatsoever. I was hoping it was the same...

Any sugguests before I bring to the shop would be appreicated...also any recommended shops around Bay Area. I don't really want to bring to the dealer since it will cost a arm and leg or more...
