Default Parking brake warning...
I have recently acquired a new problem on my A6. A warning indicator for my parking brake comes on irregularly.. It happens while driving and when my brake is completely off and at full resting position.. There is (and you know if any of you have had this problem) a very annoying chime to alert you of an engaged parking brake while the car is in gear. It seems to happen more often when I turn, weird right? Please if anyone has any advice or has had this same issue i would love to get some input... Thanks in advance, Michael.

Have you checked the brake fluid level?

Thanks for the response and no I haven't had a chance but I will check it tomorrow... what am I going to be able to tell from that, if it's high or low how does that affect the "engaged parking brake" warning?

i dont mean to question your almightyness, but what does the fluid have to do with the parking break? the parking break is cable actuated

I feel dumb but I really don’t have a clue how to check the level.. I opened the reservoir and I definitely didn’t want to take the filter off to look down inside but that seems like the only way. maybe when the sun is shining on the opaque plastic tomorrow I could somehow read the level. Do you suppose that the cable needs to be tightened or something along those lines?

Cable? For the e-brake? Should never need adjustment. Fluid level is your first stop.
