Problem with CVT?

Here is what I am experiencing...hopefully someone might have some insight:

I have a brand '03 A6CVT.

I back out of a parking space,
Put it in drive
As I start to move forward, I feel - and hear - a scraping sound for about 1/2 a second.

It seems to only happen when it is cold and I never have any problems with the transmission...it runs like a rocket.

Other than this, I love my A6.

Anyone experience something similar?

I talked to the shop foreman here in Austin and he says his A4CVT does the same thing and he has heard from other owners that they have experienced similar sounds.

The CVT uses a clutch to engage and dis-engage. Perhaps this is what you feel and hear ?

Nope! My car does it to!!! It is the abs system charging. New feature for 2003

All 2003's do it

Definitely the ABS self test. I was thinking something was not right too....

Same with my A4. Agree it is the self-test on the ABS, nothing to worry about.

Great engine/tranny combo, isn't it?

Is this info from Audi? Should we complain about it to them to see if they will fix it? Maybe they will if enough of us voice our concerns?
