Default Question about ETKA

Just getting set up to do some major Work on my newly Aquired A6. Rear brakes area llmost done now .. waiting for rotors and pads, Front brakes after that . Bentely being delivered with the rotors to help with my timing belt project , but have a realy good idea what is involved.
I obtained a copy of ETKA 7.0. I loaded it with the US english option and did all the updates but everything is in German . Did i do something wrong or can it be changed within the program ?
If I get this working I will be good to go for all my projects

you can change the language this way:

Start ETKA
Select VW or AUDI icon
click "ETKA STARTEN"
click an icon that looks like a select list in the right top corner of screen - "Liste der Funktionen anzeigen"
move mouse over "Sprachauswahl"
select US English

Thanks for the help .. worked like a treat .. bad news is i have already started to put my list together and my bank account is draining !!

those who are looking for Etka it is definitely available on line if you look carefully.

You can save a couple hundred bucks on rotors for the rear...just take a 4" grinder with a 1/4" wheel and grind off the lip on the inside and outside of the rotor. Generally you can change pads 3 or 4 times before the rotor gets too thin. You have to take off the caliper but not the caliper mounting bracket to get to the rotor lips. It's ok if the lip ends up a little chamfered...the pad is inside the lip a lot anyway.

If you don't grind of the lip you often get vibration/squeal right before a stop.

Hey John

I had the ORIGINAL rotors after 350,000km .. I think they were due for a rest

PAyed 100.00 and got 2 rear cross drilled rotors with free shipping . i think they were Brembo but not sure. I do agree that rear brakes don't do a ton of Work but brakes for me are worth spending a bit of money on.
I had to go to the wreckers to get a new carrier ( seized pin) and it did cross my mind to grab the rotors on the wrecked car . They were in great shape with almost no lip just a tonne of surface rust .. didn't want to seam like a tightwad though

Where can one obtain a true copy of ETKA?

I keep finding bodyshop parts books, not a true ETKA

please drop a hint on where you get the ETKA from? Seems like this might be like a drug or something rare. Every fourm this topic comes up on I never get anyone willing to spill the beans on where to get it.

I even asked two local VW/Audi dealers about getting a copy. they said they have NO way of doing so.
