Default Question for April or others about a dealer-relationship issue.

I decided to pay $25 for a one year membership to AllData, which provides rudimentary maintenance guides and technical service bulletins for all cars.

I've noticed two issues addressed in the TSBs that may apply to my car. I'm under warranty, so I'm going to bring it in.

The question is, <b>do I specifically identify the TSB to the dealer, or do I just identify the symptom and trust them to connect it to the TSB?</b>

The only reason NOT to mention the TSB by name is that I could get flagged as a "TSB Hypochodriac" who is fishing for needless repairs. I can absolutely understand why a dealer would be put off by the ideas of a customer armed with TSB citations.

Any thoughts?

Default identify the TSB, i print it out and take it with me.

tell them you see/feel all the symptoms in the TSB.

2nd. It's all in the delivery, but perfectly OK to show them that you did your own research.

Default all sounds good here.....

you're the customer, and they are by design wanting to do the absolute minimum in their work.

Take it in...I've tried the sheepish routine and straight out I know the hard points and technicals. Better to put things sometimes out in front. See how they react vs. an Audi dealer, where you need to do the sheepish routine.

Just like doctors....pin them down with facts and data, and they'll squirm.

The paranoia from them comes from the fact that people outside of their little sphere can learn their craft.

Default I didn't want to imply that I had an issues with them, or thought they would freak out.

I just want to do what is fair, and what gives me the best chance of getting issues resolved.

I'm sure the mother ship pays them for doing my warranty work. I just don't want them to dismiss or minimize my "complaints".
