recoding for cd changer?
I am considerin adding on the cd changer from clair. I read somewhere that after adding the changer, the symphony head unit needed to be coded with the VAG tool. Anyone know the specifics? TIA

Not True...
Nothing needs to be recoded. I followed the installation instructions for the changer, and the Symphony head unit recognized the changer automatically. The whole process took 10-15 minutes...no recoding - just mount and plug in the changer!

I went to my dealer. Paid $320. Went home. Twenty minutes later it was installed. No adapters.
It was easier to take out the bracket, put the unit in, then re-install the bracket. The dealer supplied the necessary screws. Simple job. No recoding, no adapters. Piece of cake.

It's true, there is a coding for the radio to support a CD changer. But most units coming out of the factory have this code set already. So it is usually plug and go. I've never heard of a Bose-equipped one needing a recode, and I'd say 95% of the non-bose don't need it either.
