Yes....... very difficult...as far as electronics goes.
If you've never put one in I wouldn't even think about it. LOTS of stuff to short out in these cars. If you've got a real good grasp on wiring up 5 prong relays you should be OK. Also a lot of installers have issues soldering resistors and diodes in line.....if the immobilizer wires have a cold solder your car will never start, even with the key. I understand your wanting to install it yourself, but this is one of those things you pay a professional to do. Find a good reputable shop. The labor cost is nothing compared to the frustration you will go through. It's like window tint!

Where are you located?
And what does the $500. include? Is that just labor or does that include the immobilizer pack and all the extra needed parts. If your doing keyless, trunk pop, window roll up/down, sun roof open/close, turbo timer, mercury tilts, manual bypass, proximity sensor, etc..... each one of these option costs another $25.+ for relays and such. $500 seems high but if that includes everying it's not terrible.
