Default Removal /replacement of center cup holder?

The center cup holder (in the consol not dash) is broke and needs to be replaced. Any thoughts or previous links on how to remove & replace?

As I recall, it's pretty easy. Just hold the cupholder most of the way open and there's a tab down on the side of the cupholder than you should be able to reach with a screwdriver. Disengage that and pull up. For installation, you just slide it in.

urbanlegend,
Were you able to fix your cupholder in the console?
I need to replace the one in my wife's 2000 A-6.
It stays up all the time and will not stay in the down position so I would like to know how to remove and replace without removing entire center console.
Thank you
Kurt

Completely unnecessary. Just read above. You hold the cup holder partialy open/closed and push the tabs that are towards the front on either side. Pull one side up slightly then move to the other.

It really is easy. I could replace one in less than a minute. Really.

Yes...you'll see where the tab is on the new cup holder.

you could always take the spring out for a temporary fix - mine was doing the same, i took the spring out, so now i just have to push down on the back side of the holder to pop it open and close it as you normally would. i've left it as is since i don't use it very much

Mine does not stay closed.
It is always open and things catch on it and I am afraid it will break off.
I would like it to work as it should, both open and closed.
How much does this part cost, approximately, from the Audi stealer?

Thank you for the input.
It worked and I was able to remove the old one and put in the new one in minutes.
Of course, Audi got me for $62.00 for the cup holder but at least it didn't cost me 2 million to have the new one installed.
Thanks for the help,
Kurt

Apart from just replacing the cup holder, which is easy as you mention, has anyone removed and replaced the MOUNT that the cup holder pushes into ?
I have the Compartment Bin, and want to repalce it with the pop up cup holder.
I ordered and got the Mount and Cup Holder and I see how they fit and work.
I can get the Compartment Bin out, but can't see how to get the Mount in - does one have to remove an entire side of the center console to get the Mount in, which is bigger than the opening ?

Thanks.

$62!!!! Yikes! Mine is also broke and I was going to replace. I think I'll just leave as the cup holder in the dash works fine. Was really just going to replace for cosmetic reasons. Where does Audi get off with the cost of some of these parts?!
